philosophy

All of my guitars are aural art work.  After the wood is chosen, it is carefully worked into its acoustic potential.  The top is graduated to hinge at the ribs.  I “tune” the top and backs of my instruments so they will work together in sound production. This is accomplished by carving of the braces. Back braces as well as top are shaped.

The hardwood rosette is both form and function, serving to stiffen the sound hole region.  When building truly great sounding instruments all details must be considered.  I also employ a “Spanish Heel” in my neck block, serving two purposes first to stabilize the critical neck/body joint and preserving that angle and secondly, to transmit some of the energy from the neck to the back.
